Outline of KS4 Curriculum
Elutec (East London UTC) provides an education for students who are passionate about engineering, sciences, maths and technology. Traditional humanities subjects such as Geography and History are not included in the Elutec curriculum. Instead, all students study engineering, working with our employer sponsor Ford. The curriculum is geared towards ensuring that students are able to progress on to the sixth form and then move into an apprenticeship or STEM course at university.
Year 10 and 11 (Key stage 4) courses
Students complete a technical course alongside GCSE’s.
- Cambridge Technical Level 2 Engineering
- Computer Science
- Digital Media or French
In-addition to the GCSE subjects outlined above, all students will also have a timetabled PE lesson, practical science lesson and an engineering workshop lesson. Students also have the opportunity each week to participate in an extra-curricular activity such as Duke of Edinburgh Award, Green Power or Cycle club.
As a UTC student, your son or daughter will find that at the end of year 13, they are in high demand by employers, as there is a lack of people with high level technical education, alongside academic skills. In 2018, 62% of Elutec year 13 leavers progressed on to a course at University and 38% took up an offer of an apprenticeship.
