Sixth Form

Welcome to the Elutec sixth form.

With our new purpose built and start of the art building we offer excellent facilities and a stimulating environment in which to study and achieve.

All students will follow a level 3 programme and will choose either the academic pathway consisting of A level subjects or the vocational pathway consisting of either a three A level equivalent BTEC Extended Diploma in engineering or a two A level equivalent BTEC Diploma in engineering plus a single A level equivalent BTEC in IT.
Each student will also take the AS level EPQ qualification as a preparation for UCAS and working in industry.

Students will receive careers education and guidance to support them in choosing the correct pathway for the future, be it further education, a higher or degree apprenticeship, a university degree or employment. Trips to UCAS events and universities are arranged throughout the time students are with us.

In addition students will have the opportunity to engage in physical education, enterprise education and extension activities along with a week of work experience each year and, if appropriate, will be encouraged to pursue further work experience as part of their regular curriculum.

All students will be allocated a tutor who will meet with them daily , both as part of the tutor group and individually. The tutor will be the first point of contact for parents and for the student’s subject teachers. The sixth form team will be able to guide students through their sixth form years by supporting their learning, helping them to cope with the pressures of studying at this level, and providing them with information, advice and guidance in terms of their next steps in achieving their ambitions; whether that be through apprenticeship, other employment with training, or university.

One of our school motto’s is ‘think big, start small, grow fast’ and we want all students to quickly understand what their plans look like for the next step after Elutec so that each one has a real focus and purpose which will drive their engagement and achievement in all areas of sixth form life at Elutec.
