Open Day 12 November (11:00 – 15:00)

Open days allow prospective applicants to visit the school get a real feel for what life is like at Elutec and to pick up a wide range of useful information. Visitors will be able to meet with current students, the Principal, Vice Principal and teachers, as well as our sponsors and partners. We will show you around and tell you about the curriculum, career pathways and the application process. You can tour our new building, and see the facilities. You will also hear about our unique relationships with academic and industrial leaders, all aimed to help open the doors for outstanding young women and men!

Our open day is specifically designed for everyone to help you to make the best choice choosing the right school. It is highly recommended that you visit Elutec to see for yourself what this type of education means for young people and to discover the opportunities that are available.

Open day sessions and activities

You will have the opportunity to find out more about the courses you are interested in and attend numerous sessions and activities organised by our teachers.

The science department has already planned exciting experiments for anyone interested in taking part.

The ICT department will offer short activities on the Arduino (Engduino device provided by UCL). The Engduino is programmed with Arduino software in (processing) C language. It is a perfect device for beginners to learn how to do programming and prototyping, with the scope to progress to the Arduino open-source environment to start their making journey!

Year 10 and 11 students and parents will have an opportunity to try a short activities on how to a develop website and how to program the Raspberry Pi using Python.

The maths department will have some grid drawing for students making solids from nets of complex shapes and a probability game. There will also be a problem solving section for everyone who loves maths.

All students and parents who visit the English department will be challenged in poetry writing, quizzes and word play (anagram) activities and will also be able to take part in a continuous descriptive narrative.

The engineering department will challenge students and parents to try welding, soldering activities, woodwork, designing a model chair, laser cutting and try to fit into the Greenpower car racing driver’s seat. Get acquainted with our equipment: mills, lathes, 3D printers and more.

A series of general information sessions are organised to provide information on what you can expect as a student at Elutec. The sessions will include a presentation by our Principal Mrs Umerah and our year 12 and 13 students about their life at Elutec. Also formal and informal talks, a question-and-answer session and demonstrations.

One of our main sponsors University College London (UCL) will bring their UCell Team and UCL Student Ambassadors to inspire young people to discover and find career pathways in engineering.

Our sponsors and partners; Ford, National Grid, Leonardo, Network Rail, Festo, Vandome Cycles will be showing cutting edge technological, engineering and design inventions. The IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) will attend the day to provide you with more information and answer your questions about careers in engineering.
